UWAB and Astronomy Professor (Emeritus) Woody Sullivan was recently announced as one of members of the inaugural class of Fellows for the American Astronomical Society!
Prof. Sullivan, who also served as the UW Astrobiology Director until 2012, was designated as a Legacy Fellow along with with more than 200 other astronomers who were either past recipients of certain awards from the AAS or its topical Divisions, distinguished AAS elected leaders and volunteer committee members, and previously unrecognized individuals with long histories of outstanding research, teaching, mentoring, and service.
The AAS Fellows program was established in 2019 to confer recognition upon AAS members for achievement and extraordinary service to the field of astronomy and the American Astronomical Society. AAS Fellows are recognized for their contributions toward the AAS mission of enhancing and sharing humanity’s scientific understanding of the universe.
