How to file a modification form

Washington law encourages property owners to file Covenant Modification forms to strike illegal racially restrictive language from the chain of title. It is not difficult. The Association of County Auditors has developed a form and a process that is explained below. There is no fee, but it does require that the form be notarized. Start by reading the instructions on your county Auditor website:

HOW TO PREPARE AND RECORD A RESTRICTIVE COVENANT MODIFICATION DOCUMENT

If you have verified that a document recorded with the county auditor in the chain of title to your property contains a racially restrictive covenant and you have decided to record a modification document, here are the steps to follow.
