IWW Members Killed year by year 1907-1974
By DJ AlperovitzThese maps and timeline detail the deaths of more than 170 I.W.W members. While giving a talk on the Trilogy of I.W.W. martyrs, Joe Hill, Frank Little, and Wesley Everest, the realization came that these were but a few members that had been killed. I then began the I.W.W.s Killed Project, compiling the data represented here. What has been complied is a list of I.W.W. members and innocent bystanders who were killed while organizing, striking, taking direct action, or for carrying a Red Card. These members and bystanders were shot, stabbed, beaten, tortured, starved, strangled, lynched, drowned, disappeared, or executed. Some were killed standing their ground in the company of their Fellow Workers and were buried with ceremony and stone, others died not only alone but also unknown and were consigned to an unmarked paupers grave. These maps and charts are hosted by Tableau Public and may take a few seconds to respond. If slow, refresh the page.
