About the Filipino Graduation Ceremony

The Filipino Graduation Celebration was created by students in partnership with the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity and FASA sa UW – The Filipino American Student Association of UW.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When and where is the 2024 Filipino Graduation Celebration?

This year it will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 4:00PM in wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House.

Who can participate?

Any UW student (undergraduate or graduate/doctoral candidate) completing a degree in Spring 2024, Summer 2024 or Fall 2024. Students must register to participate in order to be formally recognized and provided with any participatory benefits including the Fil-Am stole.

Where do I park?

Guests are encouraged to park in Central Garage, visit here for more visitor parking information.

How early do I need to check-in for the Filipino Graduation Celebration?

Check-in time will begin approximately 30 minutes before the event. More information will be provided to those who are registered to participate.

How much does it cost to participate?

Participation is FREE, for graduating students and their families, but there is limited seating so sign up as soon as possible.

How do I register?

Registration opens soon and will close as soon as we reach capacity. Check back for the link!

What do I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable wearing, including cultural regalia or academic regalia (cap & gown) for this event.

How do I get a stole?

The graduation gift is from the graduation committee to the graduating students who have registered for the 2024 Filipino Graduation Celebration, and you must be present at the ceremony to receive the gift.

What happens if I don’t register in time? Is there a waiting list?

We have limited seating, therefore we encourage you to register as soon as possible. We will keep a waiting list if needed.

Who plans the graduation?

The Celebration is funded by the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, The Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center, and the UW Alumni Association, in partnership with the UW Alumni Association Multicultural Alumni Partnership. The ceremony is planned by Kelly ECC staff, members and officers from FASA sa UW – The Filipino American Student Association of UW.

Can I attend the Filipino Graduation Celebration AND my own school’s graduation?

Absolutely, As long as it is not happening at the same time.
