In collaboration with the Q Center, UW Housing & Food Services, the UW Women’s Center and the ASUW Womxn’s Action Commission, the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center proudly presents the 17th Annual Womxn of Color Celebration (formerly Womxn of Color Reception). Join us for a feel-good luncheon where we’ll celebrate ourselves, be in community and envision new futures together. This year’s program features the ever-amazing Dr. Joy Williamson – Lott as our keynote speaker, q&a, and a catered lunch. We hope to see you there!

Keynote bio:
Joy Williamson-Lott assumed the role of Dean of the Graduate School in July 2019. She is also a professor and previously an associate dean in the College of Education, an accomplished scholar and researcher in the field of American higher education, and a committed advocate for equity and diversity in higher education. She is the author of several books examining black higher educational history and the black freedom struggle, including her most recent book, “Jim Crow Campus: Higher Education and the Struggle for a New Southern Social Order.” Her teaching focuses on education as a moral endeavor, the shifting definition of “proper education” and “liberation” for different social groups, and the educational histories of people of color.”
