Andrew Shumway

Andrew seeks to understand the elusive role of water on Mars through laboratory experiments, remote sensing, and modelling. Coming from a background in Physics (B.S. Georgia Tech, 2018), Andrew now applies his skills to research in planetary geochemistry and astrobiology. In the lab, he recreates Mars-like environments to study how interactions between salt, water, and soil shape the geochemistry and habitability of the red planet.

Outside of the lab, Andrew enjoys hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, photography, making music, and playing board games
