I arrived in San Sebastián secure and with a strong foundation, but as I basked in the beauty of this shadow, I saw a reflection of myself on the blank wall before me, waiting for the light of this wonderful city to leave me, too, with a beautiful pattern, adding another layer to myself.
One of the greatest things that I learned from studying in Spain was the value of enjoying the time in a day. The Basque people around me experienced their lunches in the sun, took each bite of their pintxo pote with purpose, and had a poise that made you feel at home—a welcomed contrast to the hustle and bustle that I often feel in the United States. My experience in San Sebastián will forever hold the warmest of memories.
