Without expectation, without knowing I was searching for anything, Japan welcomed me through comfort in order, chaos through contraction. I have never arrived in a place that felt so foreign and made so much sense—where without fail, eager strangers welcomed me. A place of such striking natural beauty that the whole country stopped to take it in: Fuji-san, seasons changing, bonsai growing. Nothing is overlooked. The precision laid out before me left little for interpretation yet offered a path to explore my own depth. Nothing was what it seemed, but everything made sense. In that strange and familiar land, I discovered my resilience in a way that was new, stronger. Growing up, towards the sun, without a clear goal but with a focus on the light.
