Going to class, doing all these readings has really put a burden on me. By burden, I mean sorrow and a sense of depression. I have learned so much about our connections with earth and how we have really messed the earth up. I find my self deeply rethinking my daily routines to evaluate my connection with the earth and if I am doing unneeded harm. However, I find my self in a big dilemma to. Although I want to do the most I can to protect the future and this earth, my daily schedule and lifestyle that I am living in now causes me to burn a lot of fossil fuels. With playing football for the university of Washington, I have realized how much each plane ride we take each weekend contributes to burning fossil fuels and its enormous. I mean think about it, from September to December, me and about 100 other people, coaches, players, training staff, take about 9 trips to different locations, for one weekend (to play the game) and then back. Then if we go to the bowl game at the end of the year, everyone one goes! Anyone that is affiliated on a certain level with the husky football gets to go, that’s a lot of fossil fuels.
