What is the mission of the UW Autism Center?
The mission of the UW Autism Center is:
(a) To provide coordinated state-of-the-art Clinical Services for children with autism spectrum disorders and related developmental disabilities and their families;
(b) To provide professional Training in order to build capacity in the community in terms of its ability to provide high quality services;
(c) To conduct cutting edge Research relevant to autism spectrum disorders.
Where is the UW Autism Center located?
The UW Autism Center’s Seattle clinic is located in the Center on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington. The UW Autism Center’s Tacoma clinic is located in the McDonald Smith Building on the UW Tacoma campus. Click here for Directions.
What kinds of intervention services are provided?
A broad range of empirically supported intervention services are provided to children with autism spectrum disorders and their families. With guidance from Autism Center staff, parents are able to choose the type of treatment and level of service that is right for them and their child. What types of evaluation services are provided?
The Autism Spectrum Disorders Clinic provides a range of evaluation services including diagnostic, educational, and neuropsychological evaluations. Among the specialty services offered are diagnosis of infants and toddlers, and evaluations for high-functioning individuals with autism or Asperger’s syndrome. What kind of professional training is provided?
The UW Autism Center’s Training and Outreach Program provides evidence-based training for community professionals who interact with and serve individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) across Washington state and the greater Pacific Northwest. Click here for more on Training.
What other services are available at the Institute on Human Development and Disability for children with autism?
The Clinical Training Unit at the IHDD provides multidisciplinary diagnostic evaluations for children with a variety of special needs and has expertise evaluating children with autism spectrum disorders.
