WATCH: Updated Diagnostic Criteria and Management of Lewy Body Dementia, DLB Consortium

October 16, 2017 — The new criteria elevate the importance of REM sleep disorder and incorporate the biomarker MIBG. DLB Consortium leaders hope that the diagnostic and management guidelines help clinicians catch more DLB cases. This resource will make this cognition and movement disorder more tractable for biomarker research, longitudinal cohorts, and clinical trials. Have you adopted the guidelines? NIH completes atlas of human DNA differences that influence gene expression

October 11, 2017 — This atlas is a critical resource for the scientific community interested in how individual genomic variation leads to biological differences, like healthy and diseased states, across human tissues and cell types. The culmination of work from the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) Consortium, the atlas catalogs how genomic variation influences how genes are turned off and on.

LBD University: Updated Diagnostic Criteria and Management of Lewy Body Dementia

October 06, 2017 — The Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) Consortium (including ADRC's Debby Tsuang) published updated diagnostic criteria for dementia with Lewy bodies in the journal Neurology. New Paper: Translational geroscience: A new paradigm for 21st century medicine

October 05, 2017 — Published in Translational Medicine of Aging, ADRC's Dr. Matt Kaeberlein provides an overview of the field of translational geroscience, which he believes will become the paradigm for the practice of medicine in the 21st century. He cites initial clinical data indicates that geroprotective compounds such as rapamycin and metformin may delay or reverse age-related disease in otherwise healthy elderly people.

Call for ADRC Pilot Project Proposals!

September 18, 2017 — The UW ADRC seeks proposals for one-year pilot projects that use its resources to advance the understanding, diagnosis, and/or treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The UW ADRC will fund at least two awards for junior researchers of up $30,000 each, and one award of up to $75,000, which is also open to established researchers new to the ADRC.
