Dr. Michael E. Sughrue is an internationally acclaimed Brain surgeon and recognized authority in connectomics and the use of AI to better diagnose and treat brain diseases including mental illnesses. He is a board-certified neurosurgeon, entrepreneur, and thought leader in precision brain medicine. As Professor of Neurosurgery at Columbia University and Founder/CMO of Omniscient Neurotechnology, he merges clinical expertise with cutting-edge research in brain mapping, connectomics, and minimally invasive surgical approaches. Dr. Sughrue’s pioneering efforts have led to novel techniques that enhance outcomes for patients with complex brain tumors, while his ongoing work in AI-driven imaging and neuromodulation continues to redefine standards in the field.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Sughrue’s leadership in academic medicine and innovation has garnered global recognition. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed articles, written multiple textbooks on neurosurgical techniques, and holds numerous patents related to brain network analysis. As an international keynote speaker and mentor to trainees worldwide, he remains committed to transforming neurosurgical care, catalyzing cross-disciplinary collaboration, and improving patients’ lives through data-driven, personalized treatment strategies.

The topics of this seminar series will be a wide range of areas of relevant to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), biological heterogeneity, and other themes of the ADRC. The presenters will be a mix of UW, regional, and external (national and international) guests, and also have an eye toward enhancing collaborations.
