2023 was a year of incredible growth and positive change within the UW ADRC. We enrolled 85 new participants in our center’s central study – the Clinical Core – and the Clinical Core supported the recruitment efforts of 6 new brain health research studies. It is thanks to participants like you that we can do this important work and move closer to discovering new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and memory loss.
Mike Rosenbloom, MD:
This year, the UW ADRC Clinical Trials Program started up 3 new trials that are currently open and looking for new participants to get involved, including one new non-invasive brain stimulation study and an experimental drug study for people living with dementia with Lewy bodies. And in a landmark development, our Center treated the first UW Medicine patient with the newest FDA approved treatment for early Alzheimer’s disease, on December 1.

This year, the ADRC Native Research and Resource Core welcomed 3 new community navigators/research coordinators to the team and ushered in 15 new participants to the Clinical Core, helping to elevate Indigenous voices and representation in the brain health sphere.

Our Communications Team started a new quarterly newsletter that is available in English and Spanish, and we published the 12th edition of Dimensions magazine since 2017, welcoming it’s 1,200th print subscriber! Thank you for your continuing interest and feedback.
