NWH & UWMC Integration
On January 1, 2020, Northwest Hospital will integrate with UW Medical Center to become one of two UW Medical Center campuses; both hospitals will operate under one license. This new UW Medical Center campus will be known as UW Medical Center – Northwest. The UW Medical Center on Pacific Avenue will be known at UW Medical Center – Montlake. An example of how we currently identify a UW Medical Center ‘campus’ not located on Pacific Avenue is how we characterize UW Medical Center – Roosevelt. The clinics are part of UW Medical Center just as the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus will be part of UW Medical Center. Examples of correct and incorrect usage
What about my existing Northwest Hospital branded materials? Part of the legal integration requires that we clearly identify UW Medical Center – Northwest so that patients are made aware of the change and are not confused by conflicting materials and information. It will be important for you to ensure that your badges, signage, business cards and other business materials reflect the change. If you have bedside boards in patient rooms that say Northwest Hospital, the name will need to be removed or covered.
I have handouts and materials that I give patients that are not specific to Northwest Hospital but are branded as Northwest Hospital. What should I do with those materials? Materials such as instructions, discharge information and items not specific to the campus, should use the UW Medical Center logo. It is not necessary to indicate the campus.
