Wardrobe Suggestions for Photo Shoots
What to Wear:
- You are welcome to wear your white coat if you typically do so and feel comfortable in it. We may request some shots with your coat on and others without it.
- For shirts, tops and blouses, basic solid colors work best on camera. Earth tones, in particular, photograph very well. See color palette example below.
- In general, wear clothing that you would usually choose for a day in the clinic or your workplace, while avoiding the items listed below.

What to Avoid:
- Please refrain from wearing sparkly jewelry, accessories or shiny fabrics that may reflect light.
- Avoid large, dangling jewelry that can create noise or distract visually.
- Steer clear of overly bright or neon colors, such as bright yellows, greens and pinks.
- Choose attire without visible, recognizable brand names or logos. A good exception is UW Medicine or department-branded clothing.
- Do not wear stripes of any kind, especially thin pinstripes or small repeating patterns, as they can produce a “vibrating” effect on camera.
