Lewy Body Dementia Association Mentorship Program Award

September 16, 2021 — The goal of this program is to promote the continued development of newly trained clinician-researchers, or experienced clinician-researchers new to LBD, into world-class LBD investigators. This might include individuals with fellowship training in movement disorders, behavioral neurology, geriatric psychiatry, or geriatric medicine. The initiative focuses on the mentorship of young or experienced investigators committed to clinical research in the Lewy body dementia arena by seasoned, established LBD investigators. LBDA will award up to 4 awards of $4,000 (including up to a maximum of 10% indirect costs) for the mentee’s proposed project and/or mentee conference/travel costs. Mentors will receive a $2,000 honorarium.

Upcoming: NIA IMPACT Collaboratory Request for Applications for Demonstration Project Grants

September 07, 2021 — The NIA IMPACT Collaboratory plans to publish a Request for Applications (RFA) for Demonstration Project Grants on October 4, 2021. Letters of Intent are required and due no later than October 29, 2021. IMPACT will fund Demonstration Projects (maximum duration 24 months) designed as full-scale, Stage IV effectiveness embedded pragmatic clinical trials (ePCT) (based on the NIH Stage Model) that test, measure and evaluate the effect of a care delivery intervention program in a health care system for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their care partners.

Request for Proposals: 2022-2023 UW ADRC Development Projects!

August 10, 2021 — The UW ADRC seeks proposals for Development Projects that advance the understanding, diagnosis, and/or treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). We aim to fund 3-4 projects of up to $50,000 each. At least two awards will be reserved for junior applicants (Postdoctoral fellows with appropriate senior collaborators or junior faculty up to the rank of Assistant Professor). Funds would be awarded for a one-year project period, 5/1/2022 through 4/30/2023. The proposed project must be feasible within this time frame.

August 09, 2021 — The ACT project began in 1994 and has actively shared data with external collaborators to advance innovative projects in aging research. The 9th Annual ACT symposium, “The Continued Journey in the Life Course of the ACT Study and Brain Aging Research", will bring together researchers and other interested persons to discuss research related to ACT and brain aging science. UW Bioengineering startup AltPep advances technology for the early detection and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other amyloid diseases

April 13, 2021 — Seattle-based biotech AltPep, which spun out of bioengineering professor Valerie Daggett’s research lab in March 2019, has developed a platform that allows for both early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s. In January it raised $23 million in Series A investment funding to advance its work. AltPep’s tools identify diseases resulting from toxic misfolded amyloid proteins.
