Which class will be next?

Hello all, stay tuned for the exact dates of the next ISCFC session, which will get underway in late February 2020.

we will announce the dates soon on the ISCFC homepage and in this forum

Hi all, you may have noticed that many users have an odd anomaly with their icons/avatars: the images to the left of each persons' posts. Some users have an icon that looks like this:
[Screen Shot 2019-04-10 at 9](//muut.com/u/footprint/s1/:footprint:udLY:screenshot20190410at9.28.48am.png.jpg)
...along with their screen-name, which can overlap the text and be distracting.
I asked the forum (muut) site administrators about this and they said it seems to be an issue with linking to a google+ account, since that service at google has ended.
Muut is working on a solution, but in the meantime, users that have the funny looking icons can replace them with any other icon of your choice by clicking your screenname in the menu bar at the top, click where it says "click to change" on your current icon, and then follow the directions.

Hi all- How great that you are all posting and commenting with such enthusiasm! I have noticed that almost everyone lately is posting their comments with almost the same title "My carbon footprint" and in the same discussion stream ("Student footprints")
That's great, but please notice that we have a number of discussion topics that we encourage students to write about. Including "Wants & Needs" "Sustainable City" "Home Grown" "Off the Table" and even "Big Ideas" for your most ambitious thoughts.
On a computer, the list of topics is on the right side of the page - on a mobile device, it is under the "Channels" menu link. Click on the topic to see a description, some prompt questions, and previous posts by students.
When you write a post, you will see a drop down menu that allows you to choose which conversation topic in which to include your post - all posts from all topics show up on the ISCFC Discussion homepage.
Thanks again for all your thoughts and enjoy exploring the different conversations!

Here are some direct links to some of those discussions to get you going:

Which school will be the next one to get a white map pin?

Hi all. I have been reading the news today and the coast of North Carolina has been experiencing severe impacts from Hurricane Matthew, including serious flooding.
We have two participating schools from North Carolina in this session and both are very close to the coast: Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington, NC and Croatan High School in Newport, NC. We hope that all of the teachers students and their families are safe!
Matthew was one of the strongest hurricanes in the Caribbean ever recorded, and went incredibly quickly to Category 5 strength just before it arrived in and devastated Haiti. The extremely warm waters in the Caribbean right now contributed to this intensity, thus drawing the connection to climate change.

Welcome to the Sep 16 ISCFC session! And a special welcome to Keni Rienks' AP Environmental Science students from Cape Fear Academy in NC USA. Cape Fear Academy now has a pin on the ISCFC map - the first from this session!

Our long-awaited update to our carbon footprint calculator is now online at http://footprint.stanford.edu/calculate.html !
Included is the most updated international footprint data that we could find, several additional question choices and *full mobile and tablet compatibility*.
You can still log in with your previous calculator registration, and your original values will be imported.
Enjoy!

reply to this post with links to comments here that you find especially compelling. There are too many great posts for us to keep track of !

...or if you use twitter, go ahead and tweet links to great posts yourself, adding #ISCFC and @I2Iedu if there's space

Our dilligent and talented tech folks have solved the database problem, and the calculator is now fully-functional again. Your students can now register to save their data when they do their calculations, and any stored data should be accessible again to your students upon log-in.
Thanks again to ISCFC teacher Bill D for letting us know about the issue! Please email me (or post here) when you have any problem with our site!
