His lab focuses on nature of inhibition in the CNS, the synaptic and cellular organization of GABAergic microcircuits in the hippocampus under normal conditions and in temporal lobe epilepsy, using experimental and theoretical techniques.

Failure of Biogen Study in the News

April 01, 2019 — Kris Kauno, the clinical trials supervisor at the University of Washington’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center/ UW Memory and Brain Wellness Center, is quoted in a STAT article on the ending of the Biogen study: “Talking to families that day was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.”

Deadline approaching 3/4/19: The Research Centers Collaborative Network (RCCN) is seeking to fund pilot projects on Behavior Change to Benefit Older Adults

February 12, 2019 — The RCCN will fund two or more pilot or developmental projects that involve NIA-sponsored research centers to foster research in area Behavior Change to Benefit Older Adults including change in the behaviors of older adults, care givers, health care providers, health care delivery systems or neighborhoods. The RCCN has set aside $80,000 to fund at least 2 projects. Applications are due March 4, 2019 with awards announced by April 30, 2019.
