UW CMG now accepting applications for annual Mendelian exome/genome analysis workshop

April 12, 2018 — The UW Center for Mendelian Genomics is holding the 6th annual Mendelian exome/genome analysis workshop in August, intended for data analysts/researchers who analyze next‐generation sequence data. It's a a weeklong course on the analysis of next generation sequence data that will focus on strategies and tools for solving Mendelian disorders.

New Study: Risk of dementia increases with traumatic brain injury

April 11, 2018 — Publishing in The Lancet Psychiatry, lead author Jesse Fann, a UW professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences reports that the overall risk of dementia in individuals with a history of TBI was 24 percent higher than those without a history of TBI, after accounting for other risk factors for the disease. A single TBI characterized as “severe” increased the risk by 35 percent; a single “mild” TBI or concussion increased the risk by 17 percent.
