Recent work by Anne McCoy and coworkers published in Science
Chemistry professor Anne McCoy and her team, along with collaborators at Yale, Pittsburgh, and Leipzig, have shown how water molecules pass along excess charge and, in the process, conduct electricity. The work was published recently in the journal Science.
