UW CHEMISTRY NMR

A quick recap :  Currently, the AV301 system has been operating with the new paradigm of directly writing NMR data into UW cloud storage called ‘udrive’, for about six months now. We wanted to use this as a test bed to squash out inevitable bugs when moving to a new technology such as this.

Moving Forward :  A two step process needs to happen before we complete the migration of all NMR instruments to leverage the Cloud storage facility.   The first in this is to reorganize all the existing the so-called ‘uid-s’ of users so that their uid-s are synchronous with the User ID database of the UW IT infrastructure.  We will perform this operation beginning this Thursday, 10th of May, starting at 5 pm, approximately.  During this reorganization process, NO ACCESS to the NMR computers are possible.

The systems should be ready for use by Friday morning, approximately by 11 am.  I will post an update if there is a change in this.

PLEASE NOTE ! :  This will complete only the first step of the migration process.  Barring AV301, all the instruments will still store the data locally, as usual.  The second step i.e. UDRIVE migration will be done in a phased manner and I will post further messages to alert you, when we implement the same.
