AV700 – J-YOUNG SAMPLE TUBE USERS – PLEASE READ !

I am picking up from my last post on the Sample Handling change in AV700. If you bring a J-Young tube, please confirm its straightness with the special Aluminum tester that is atop the NMR console from now on, we recommend you to use only the Ceramic Spinner, which balances the center of mass closer […]

IMPORTANT NOTE ! AV700 USERS – SAMPLE HANDLING, PLEASE READ

To tackle the recurrent issue of J-Young sample tubes getting stuck inside the magnet, we are coming up with an alternative that shows promise in addressing the issue. J-Young Tubes  : You must only use the ceramic spinner shown below from now on : Regular NMR Tubes : You must use the PEEK PLASTIC spinner […]

UPDATE : NO IMPACT DUE TO POWER SHUT DOWN NEXT WEEK

The good news is that the NMR lab i.e. Rm.37 is not going to be affected by the planned power shut down for couple of hours, next week.  The building coordinator Eric Strakbein assured me that he will update this status if there is any imminent change to the same. As of now, the facility […]

REMINDER ! OBSERVING X-NUCLEI IN AV500 and DRX499

Please remember the following.  You should make sure that the X-channel cable is connected to the correct nucleus port on the probe head, before you tune/match or observe NMR signal from that nucleus. For instance, on AV500 : If you want to observe 13C, make sure that the RF cable is connected to the 13C […]

UPDATE : AV700 – SYSTEM IS BACK ON LINE

Although the VT instability might recur, as I write this, the system is stable and you can start using it. Please keep us posted as to any anomaly you see. Thank you NMR Facility Manager 3/6/2018

ALERT ! AV700 USERS : SYSTEM WILL BE UNUSABLE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

My current estimate is that, the system won’t be available for regular use until tomorrow forenoon. Notwithstanding the extent of the hardware issues with VT system, I am hopeful that I can provide a workaround of sorts tomorrow, at least for users who do not demand extreme temperatures. Stay  tuned. NMR Facility Manager 2/6/2018
