DRX499 – USER FRIENDLY UPGRADE – SWITCH BETWEEN 13C AND 19F IN A BREEZE

So far, we have been asking users to switch the RF cable at the Probehead, depending on whether you run a 13C or 19F observation.   Many a time, a slip in this step leads to ‘zero signal’ since you might be pulsing along the wrong Channel. Now, this problem is gone once and for all […]

(RE)INTRODUCTION OF MYSELF…

Dear NMR users/enthusiasts Although this space was created primarily to communicate about instrument related issues and the progress made to remedy those,  in the outset I will warn that this post is an unabashed advertisement of sorts about myself, but within the context of NMR only. In this day and age it makes sense to […]

UPDATE ! AV300 : AUTOMATION SCRIPTS…

If any of you have been trying to use the automation scripts on AV300,  you might have encountered repeated failures, with some cryptic message that ends in “core dumped”. This obscure problem was related to a software bug and that has been squashed now. Commands of the type ‘multizg’, ‘iexpno’, ‘multicmd’  are a few examples […]

UPDATE : AV700 – VT CALIBRATION COMPLETE

With the backup chiller in place, the VT calibration for the high temperature range is complete.  Now, you can simply request the temperature you need to see at the sample. The system will automatically adjust the temperature measured at the sensor to achieve this. I show below an example to demonstrate the accuracy achieved.  The […]

ALERT ! AV700 – Ultra low T Option broken until further notice

The X-treme chiller and associated hardware that allowed us to reach low temperatures in the vicinity of -65C seamlessly, is compromised.  Until we come up with a reliable solution,  the system’s temperature range is restricted to go from -10 C to higher temperatures. Since the backup chiller unit is in place, the VT calibration values […]

ALERT ! AV700 – MOVED FROM SOLIDS TO SOLUTION STATE

With due apologies for this very short notice,  I am glad to address the solutions users that the AV700 system is now sporting the BBO probe with Z-gradient capability and ready for regular use, shortly. But for a block of time that I reserved for a time-sensitive run for a user, the instrument should be […]

UPDATE : PHOENIX FTP SERVER – FUNCTIONING NORMALLY

Since we have moved the 300 instruments to UDRIVE, you will no longer see the static AV300 or AV301 folder appear in the root of the FTP site.   Please take note. Otherwise, everything is back to normal. NMR Facility Manager 2/28/19
