UPDATE ! DRX499 – VT SYSTEM REVIVED

The surrogate chiller unit is in place and the sample VT control is back in operation.  Please post a message in the log book if you notice anything unusual.  With the setup, users should be able to reach about +5C comfortably. We will check the functionality in the coming day or two to confirm the […]

ALERT ! AV301 – NETWORK ERROR

Connectivity to the systems outside NMR lab is disrupted.  I will try to fix it remotely if feasible.  If not, one of us need to get to the system physically to reset the network. Access to the instrument over the weekend might be disrupted owing to this. NMR Facility Manager 4/21/2018

ALERT ! DRX499 – VT SYSTEM ISSUES

The VT air chiller unit is not functioning as expected and as a result, you cannot reach nominal temperatures below room temperatures as of now.  Although you can operate in the high temperature range, the stability will be poorer than (+/-)0.1 deg. C.   I will address the issue in an expedited manner but the fix […]

AV700 SOLIDS NMR USAGE : BRIEF CLARIFICATION

Unlike the solutions spectrometers,  solid state NMR instrument is not amenable to a walk-on mode of operation, by the very nature of this spectroscopy.   First of all, the technique requires the use of an expensive rotor (approx. cost $1000/- ) in place of the NMR tube that costs about $10/-.  The sample preparation also needs […]

ALERT ! AV700 USERS – IMMINENT CHANGE – SOLUTIONS TO SOLIDS STARTING NEXT WEEK

The 700 will switch to solid state NMR mode beginning April 16th, Monday.  It is expected that the instrument will remain in solids operation for a minimum of 2 weeks and it might extend to a month. All solutions users should take note and plan accordingly. NMR Facility Manager 4/11/2018

UPDATE ! AV700 – VT SYSTEM IN BACKUP MODE

Please note that the extreme chiller unit is malfunctioning again and we have provided a backup chiller that can take your sample to 0 deg. C and not below.   Currently we don’t have an estimate of when the low temperature capability using the default chiller will become available.  I will post an update sometime tomorrow […]
