ALERT ! AV300 – SYSTEM DOWN DUE TO PROBE ISSUES

The ATMA Probe is repeatedly failing in both tuning/matching and gradient shimming parts.

Though we will first attempt to find an in-house remedy for the above, the chances are slim that it will be successful, given the history of this probe.

We will do what we can to provide a backup probe in the system, optimize it and let you know.   Let me prepare you for the eventuality that such a backup probe won’t come with any modern conveniences such as Auto Tuning/Matching and Topshim based shimming.

This will be an ideal time for us all to collectively revisit our rusty skill sets in tuning/matching probes by hand and coaxing the Shims to a decent value, also by hand.  FYI, that is how NMR was practiced for decades, producing great spectra all along.  Stay tuned for more on this !
