PERSISTENT TOPSHIM PROBLEMS – BRIEFLY EXPLAINED…

Dear Users

While AV301 instrument has been offline for almost four weeks, you might have also noticed that people complain about Topshim failure on AV500 and AV300.  AV301 was taken down to address two complex problems, one is the failure of Topshim with 2H based solvents (i.e. most of the samples used) and a hardware level failure with the ATMA probe.   But the Topshim failure is common to all three instruments.

The inconvenient truth is this.  These three instruments are exactly of the same vintage i.e. about two decades old and are aging.  Against all odds,  the 2H based shimming failure is of the same nature in all three.  I have been intensely working to identify which of the different possible hardware components that could cause this result.  This is a subtle problem that requires painstaking process of elimination and troubleshooting.

Rest assured, everything that can be done is being done to run this problem down.

I sincerely appreciate your kind patience and understanding through all this.

I will update with anything substantive  that might be of interest to you, as and when I gather the needed details.
