Topshim automatic shimming can be used now on all solvent types.  You can use the following two methods to access this feature :

• Type topshim gui and bring up the Topshim Graphical User Interface.  If you have correctly locked on the solvent, the system will automatically optimize shims based on your lock solvent.  You just need to click on the Start button in the interface.
• From Topspin command line you can simply type : topshim and the system will perform the shimming

The difference between the two is that, with the Graphical interface you can see the comprehensive results of the shimming operation. With the command line, Topshim quietly finishes the shimming and you see : topshim done after the operation is over.

There is no reason why Shimming should be skipped now with AV500. To give you a feel for what you can get, I include couple of spectra here to demonstrate Topshim’s usefullness.

1. Water suppression on a 90% H2O sample
2. 1H spectrum from user’s sample with a mixture of lock solvents
