ATTENTION ! : INTRODUCING NEW STORAGE PARADIGM – UDRIVE

Moving with the times, we wanted to evolve a new storage solution that makes it robust, easy and secure to store and retrieve NMR data from the spectrometers. Such a solution should also be maintenance free, pretty much.

This will free us all from the uncertainties of failing hardware and constant need for intervention from people who maintain these systems, when interruptions occur.

UDRIVE is a cloud storage technology that is operated and maintained by UW-IT, by dedicated staff round the clock.  Leveraging this, we have been planning and testing to write NMR data directly to UDRIVE that can be accessed online or downloaded by users securely from the convenience of any platform of their choice.  We have conducted reasonably extensive background tests and we are ready to deploy this on one of our 7 NMR spectrometers, to begin with i.e. AV301.   The planned timeline is a full conversion to this solution for all NMR-s by the end of this year.

A full deployment note will follow later, but I want you to peruse the following blog link, that should familiarize you with the simple steps of activating, storing and accessing your own udrive space.  Here is the link :

Chemistry NMR : ACCESSING YOUR UDRIVE FOR NMR DATA – TIPS

Please spend some time playing with this new resource and make yourself comfortable.  In my next note I will explain the way the NMR data will be automatically organized and written as and when you run a spectrum.

Thank you

Rajan
