UPDATE ! DRX499 – SYSTEM IS BACK IN ACTION

The X-channel is looking pretty good after we replaced the faulty part with a back up amplifier unit.    Just to give a glimpse,  here is the result of 8 scans of 13C recorded on the solvent of lineshape standard.  Things look pretty good at this point.

PLEASE NOTE :  With the new amplifier in place, the BBO probe in this instrument is the best choice for any direct detection of X-nuclei such as 31P or 13C with 1H decoupling.  The BBO probe is superior by almost a factor of 3 for 13C detection, when compared with the HCN or BBI probe in AV500. For a given sample, the scan time will increase by factor of 4 with the AV500, if you are aiming to achieve the same signal/noise ratio obtained with DRX499 for 13C.  Same is true for 31P.  Choose the instrument wisely.
