UW CHEMISTRY NMR

The cause of the frozen screen upon login is this : When there is no dataset that is already open in the spectrum display area (blue tile), we usually drag and drop an existing dataset into it.

For some reason that has to do with the way the Display system and Topspin interact,  this causes the whole screen to freeze on AV300.

REMEDY : 

• You can  Right Click on an existing dataset and then choose ‘display’ from the pull down menu that appears.   OR
• You can go to your own preferences by typing ‘set’ on the Topspin command line. There, you can turn ON the option, that says “Auto-open last used dataset….“

Either of the above will make sure that there is no blue window when you start your session.

ADDITIONAL SOLUTION PROVIDED BY US : 

• As a third solution, I have placed a startup script of Topspin such that it automatically loads a benign dataset called : startup_data 1 1, which belongs to a generic user called ‘guest’.
• You can now drag and drop your own data sets onto this space and proceed with your NMR spinning.
