Dear Users

There was a network disruption between the computer and console, leading to a temporary failure of the system this morning.  This has been since resolved and all the vital signs of the instrument looks good.

But here is an important reminder to all users in the proper handling of the Probe Head that makes/breaks your NMR experience on this instrument.  See the picture below :

Part of the shimming problem reported by users is related to the above.   When I checked the system, this “GOLD” knob has been loosened considerably and the probehead has been pulled down from its correct vertical position.

Even a single mm of vertical displacement of the probe can make your shimming go haywire.  This GOLD knobs are there to keep the probe securely attached to the magnet bottom.  THEY ARE NOT FOR TUNING ANY NUCLEUS !!! 

PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THESE KNOBS.  PAY ATTENTION TO THE CORRECT COLOR CODE OF THE KNOBS FOR TUNING THE RESPECTIVE NUCLEI.
