GENERAL REMINDER – PLEASE USE INSTRUMENT LOG BOOK FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Dear NMR Users

This note is just in the spirit of a refresher, even for those of us who are veteran users of the facility.

Feel free to use the instrument log book that is provided as a default web page on each computer, to let us know anything that is:

  • (a) weird
  • (b) curious
  • (c) what you think is important
  • (d) what you wish were there to make your usage more comfortable.

Here is an example instrument log book page :

AV500 Log Book

The log books are not only intended to record a failure of the instrument.  It can be an effective medium to communicate anything of importance that is NMR related, not only to the facility staff, but to other users as well.

A sporadic and rare occurrence of an event can attain statistical significance if some other user also acknowledges the same observation.   This can help us troubleshoot a problem and ‘nip it in the bud’ before it snowballs into a bigger issue.

The user input is VITAL in keeping the instruments running in top shape and keeping the downtime to a minimum.  A BIG THANK YOU  for taking the effort to keep us informed.

DID YOU KNOW ?

You can upload images along with a post in the Log book, to make the feedback more effective.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND COOPERATION
