NEO500 : IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION ABOUT TUBE LENGTHS
Dear Users
While you were trained on the new NEO500 system, you were told that it is OK to use the J-Young type tubes even with this fully automated system. This is definitely true, but certainly there is a caveat to that statement.
Please look at the picture below. The ‘dotted line’ is roughly the height at which regular NMR tubes sit in the Carousel. The yellow colored arrow, shows the available clearance above this average height and you can see a Red colored lever at the maximum height.
This Lever protects the system as well as your sample from tube breakage. If your tube is tall enough to touch this lever, the Carousel is stopped from rotating, thereby preventing your sample crashing into the Aluminum block with the Danger symbol you see.
Take Home :
-
You must ensure that the total height of your sample, including the manifold you use with your J-Young tubes, is below this maximum height.
-
If the Red Lever is pushed, it triggers an error condition and the spherical light that is usually lit Green or Amber now becomes Red. Please contact one of us if this happens and we will reset the system to return it to normal.
Please do NOT hesitate to reach out to us, when you need help.
