UW CHEMISTRY NMR

Dear Users

I guess by now you all have heard about the deployment of a new Financial System that started several weeks ago, which is a University wide transformation.  In the context of the NMR facility, you may have already seen the effect of this when you reserve time with instruments GG500, AV300 or AV301.   By now, when you book NMR time, the pull down menu for the Funding Source will now carry a different and elaborate string of letters and numbers instead of the six digit budget numbers that were being used for decades.

We are now ready to bring the NEO500 automated instrument under this system.   Currently, you have been asked to enter a valid six digit budget code when you queue up experiments. This is changing.

Once we move to the new system, you DON’T HAVE TO ENTER THE DETAILS OF FUNDING SOURCE BY HAND !

Please take a look at the picture below that demonstrates this.   You are familiar with the Pencil icon (in blue circle) which allowed you to enter the budget information, previously.  With the new system, you will get a PULL DOWN menu, that will be AUTOMATICALLY populated with valid WorkTags that are tied to your UWNetid.  You simply have to choose one from the list to submit the sample (YOU SHOULD CONSULT WITH YOUR P.I. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS AS TO WHICH WORKTAGS NEED TO BE USED FOR NMR RUNS).

TEST ROLLOUT :

We are planning to recruit a few UWNetid-s to begin with to make sure that the NMR front end and the Accounting software’s backend work in harmony.  We will send emails to those individual Netid-s alerting you to this switch over.  Once things are confirmed to be OK, we will move every Netid to reflect this change.
