ALERT : NETWORK RELATED ISSUE…

The slow response behaviour noticed for AV300 is now observed in AV301 as well and the initial investigation points to a possible IT connect related network problem. The systems rely on the IT connect servers to authenticate users when they login and any problems with the UW IT servers can impact the behaviour at our end. We will keep you posted as and when we get more information.

At this point I would like to emphasize the following. Without knowing the root cause of the problem, it is not going to help to blithely reboot the computer, in a situation like this.  You are most likely to cause MORE problems by crashing the hard drive or corrupting the file system.  Notwithstanding your frustration with a non-working system, PLEASE DO NOT REBOOT THE COMPUTER WITHOUT EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION FROM ONE OF THE FACILITY STAFF.
