ALERT ! AV700 – UPDATE – PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT
Dear Users
I know you all have been patiently waiting to hear some good news about the 700 NMR getting online again and here is the good news. As I write this, I will be able to release the instrument for regular use not later than 1 pm today.
Probehead:
Second, the probe that will be ready for you is the BBO-Z-gradient probe. I know that this will bring a happy smile on many of your faces and I too am happy that you can get the data you have been waiting for.
Temperature Control :
The intermittent icing problem is still not a resolved issue. So, my under-the-surface investigation will continue while you are performing routine NMR. The upshot of this is that, once in a while I will announce that the system will need to be thawed out before the regular use can continue (might last several hours). You most probably will see small interruptions on a weekly basis (under an hour duration), when we refill the LN2 tank that supplies N2 gas for temperature control.
LOW TEMPERTURE RUNS :
This probe is eminently suited for low T operation as before. But, if you are attempting to reaching the lowest possible range i.e. -70 C to -80C, the system will automatically limit the use to under an hour to protect the shim stack from getting damaged. Most probably, you should get an intial consultation/refresher from Adrienne or myself if you are trying to setup the extreme low temperatures such as these.
Keep in touch and get back with any of your questions/concerns.
As always, thank you for your cooperation and patience.
