It’s Here !  The refurbished DRX499 with an excellent magnet on TMC anti-vibration legs is ready and at your service !

Thank you for patiently watching and enduring my milling around with the guts of the DRX499 spectrometer exposed bare for months on end.  At long last, the refurbished unit is ready for you to take for a spin !    The resurrected system is configured with your comfort and ease of use in mind ! It sports a Point-n-Click IconNMR interface that should make the recording of an NMR spectrum a breeze.   This includes automatic gradient based shimming on all deutero solvents (similar to Topshim).

The best part of it is, you don’t have to remember and type any command to get your spectrum going !

After you read the blog intro, please contact Adrienne Roehrich (amr0311@uw.edu)  to schedule a one-on-one demo session at the instrument, starting next Monday i.e. 24th Dec’ 18.  After the demo, you can also test drive the instrument and check out its performance. 

SCHEDULE FOR REGULAR USE :

The whole of next week, users can come and try out the instrument and no reservation will be necessary.  We might be working under the hood during this time, tying some lose ends during this period, while you are test driving the unit.   From the 1st day of the New Year,  the instrument will be open for regular reservations and data collection.

Important P.S.:

The old magnet servicing the instrument has been discharged and will be removed in due course of time.   The excellent magnet with vibration isolation capability and the attached DRX 500 NMR console originally belongs to Prof. Gabriele Varani.  Thanks to a sharing arrangement that he has reached with the department, we could accomplish  this resurrection.  As part of this deal, his group will get a fixed dedicated NMR time on the AV500 instrument as compensation.
