ALERT ! AV300 – ATMA (Auto Tune and Match) PROBE IS BACK IN THE INSTRUMENT

Dear Users Afte a long wait, the probe which has undergone a thorough (and expensive) overhaul is back in the AV300 magnet.     With a noble motivation to provide immediate access to this more convenient probe,  I have done a ‘quick and dirty’  install of the probe and I am releasing the same for regular use. […]

UPDATE ! AV300 – ATMA PROBE STATUS

Dear NMR Users I am sure you have not forgotten about the rather convenient ATMA probehead with its ability to do automatic shimming along with Tuning and Matching. As I write this,  we have exhausted the possible ways we can revive this workhorse probe in-house and the it is being shipped to the manufacturer for […]

UPDATE ! AV300 – SYSTEM IS READY FOR USE

Dear Users The system is ready for use now.  The delicate glassware inside the probehead has broken and that is the main cause of the sample eject as well as spinning issues.  It is fixed now and I have also shimmed up the probe to a decent state, after replacing the broken hardware. Please remember […]

ALERT ! AV300 – SYSTEM UNUSABLE NOW…PNEUMATICS RELATED ISSUE

Dear Users As couple of you have noticed and communicated earlier, there is a sample ejection/injection problem in the system.  A preliminary look today points the problem in the direction of the probehead.  I will try to further investigate this afternoon and if a fix can be provided in house.  Until that happens, I am […]

UPDATE ! AV300 – SYSTEM READY FOR USE – READ MORE INFO

Hello All Immediately : You can start booking time and use the instrument. Important Points to Keep in Mind : This is a manual tune/match Broadband probe i.e. 1H and all other nuclei This means that you must remember to run the “wobb” command and then do the tuning/matching by hand.  (Did you check out the […]

ALERT ! AV300 – SYSTEM WILL BE DORMANT UNTIL TOMORROW

The ATMA probe’s functionality worsened further and so the eventuality I talked about came sooner.  The Probehead has been pulled out for repairs and it is early times to tell if the same probe will be back in the magnet within a day. What to expect :  We will either place the fixed ATMA probe […]

UPDATE – AV300 – PROBE TUNING ISSUES

There has been repeated reported reports, albeit only from a subset of users, that the ATMA probe tuning/matching is taking very long.   I want to first assure you that we are already working on possible ways to resolve this. Recap :  Historically all NMR probes were tuned/matched by hand and this is an important and […]

ALERT : NMR LAB TEMPERATURE ISSUES…BEING LOOKED INTO

Hello all You might have noticed that the NMR Lab i.e. Rm.37, Bagley was ‘generously warm’  today and in fact the thermostat was reading close to 86 F.  Over and above this high room temperature, we discovered that the control mechanism that keeps the room temperature from fluctuating wildly, is not functioning. The upshot: The […]

UPDATE ! AV500 – SYSTEM READY FOR USE

The 13C channel tuning problem has been fixed.   I would like to emphasize the following:  ” please be gentle with the tuning and matching knobs; do not use excessive force and try to turn them beyond their stop position, ever ! ” Along with this, we have also made sure that the 1H channel tuning […]
