ALERT ! AV700 – SOLUTIONS TO SOLIDS SWITCH SOON

All 700 NMR users  please take note that the system will move to solid state NMR mode roughly in a week’s time from today.   Our current estimate is that the instrument will remain in solids mode for about 2 months. We shall assess the situation towards the end of that window and see if the […]

UPDATE ! AV300 : AUTOMATION SCRIPTS…

If any of you have been trying to use the automation scripts on AV300,  you might have encountered repeated failures, with some cryptic message that ends in “core dumped”. This obscure problem was related to a software bug and that has been squashed now. Commands of the type ‘multizg’, ‘iexpno’, ‘multicmd’  are a few examples […]

UPDATE : AV700 – VT CALIBRATION COMPLETE

With the backup chiller in place, the VT calibration for the high temperature range is complete.  Now, you can simply request the temperature you need to see at the sample. The system will automatically adjust the temperature measured at the sensor to achieve this. I show below an example to demonstrate the accuracy achieved.  The […]

ALERT ! AV700 – Ultra low T Option broken until further notice

The X-treme chiller and associated hardware that allowed us to reach low temperatures in the vicinity of -65C seamlessly, is compromised.  Until we come up with a reliable solution,  the system’s temperature range is restricted to go from -10 C to higher temperatures. Since the backup chiller unit is in place, the VT calibration values […]

ALERT ! AV700 – MOVED FROM SOLIDS TO SOLUTION STATE

With due apologies for this very short notice,  I am glad to address the solutions users that the AV700 system is now sporting the BBO probe with Z-gradient capability and ready for regular use, shortly. But for a block of time that I reserved for a time-sensitive run for a user, the instrument should be […]

QUICK UPDATE : BOTH AV300 AND DRX499 FUNCTIONING OK

Over the weekend there were two log posts on the instruments’ functionality. AV300 :  Sample handling and spinning is confirmed to be ok DRX499 : Normal acquisition/processing confirmed. Please do keep  us posted as before, if you observe abnormalities. THANK YOU ! NMR Facility Manager 3/4/19

UPDATE ! AV300 – PENDING ISSUES RESOLVED – SEE DETAILS

First of, the system is ready for use ! NETWORKING ISSUE : The temporary network glitch is resolved now and users can login with their UWNetid and store data in the UDRIVE. If you notice anything different with your account, please send me an email. SAMPLE LANDING AND SPINNING OK : Lot of debris and […]

UPDATE ! AV301 – SAMPLE HANDLING AND LOCK WORKING OK

The issue of BSMS not responding, leading to sample handling and lock was a temporary issue, probably caused by a voltage surge.  The issue is resolved and the system is functioning normally now. NMR Facility Manager 2/12/2019

UPDATE ! AV500 – THE TBI PROBE IS BACK

The mechanical issue compromising the 1H match has been fixed in-house and the probehead is back in the magnet. We have replaced the broken 1H match knob with a homemade knob.  I will show a picture below that clearly identifies the new homemade knob. Only for 1H Match, you need to use the following tune/match tool […]

ALERT ! AV300 – SAMPLE LANDING ISSUE – UPDATE

Sample spinning with this instrument is not working and this is also related to the  BSMS system’s observation that sample is ‘missing‘.   We are looking into most plausible causes before we decide to pull the probe out, to minimize the down time with the instrument. Please note that the only alternate probehead that can […]
