UPDATE ! NEO500 – PRODIGY HAS RISEN FROM ASHES – PLEASE READ

Dear Users After the long and inevitable wait, the Prodigy probe has been resurrected (with a stiff price tag) and returned to us by the manufacturer.  We also had to replace failing components in associated hardware that runs the probe.  The probe is being tested now.  We will hopefully deploy the instrument for regular use […]

ALERT ! GG500 – SYSTEM DOWN DUE TO SAMPLE HANDLING ISSUE

The sample eject/inject problem, led to the crash of the automation queue this morning. The system will be down until further notice to identify and remedy the issue. I will post an update once the queue is resumed. NMR Facility Manager 7.30.2025

ALERT ! GG500 – AUTOMATION PAUSED TILL NOON

Dear Users To address the repeated observations about non-optimal line shapes and shims, as well as to take care of few pending software tasks, the automation queue is stopped now.    The instrument will NOT be available for submitting samples until then (please always consult the instrument reservation calendar, before proceeding to submit samples). At […]

UPDATE ! AV700 – BBO SOLUTIONS PROBE IN PLACE

Dear Users Please note that the instrument is open for regular use after a brief interruption to investigate and optimize the VT system.   Along with that task, we have now placed the Broad Band probehead in the magnet to give you the best possible senstivity for all X-nuclei, starting with 13C. As a refresher : […]

UPDATE – NEO500 – SYSTEM BACK TO ROOM TEMPERATURE PROBE

Hello All It will take more time to get the Prodigy Cryoprobe operational.   As we speak, we are trying to get an additional failed component repaired/replaced as effectively as possible. To address the uncertainty of Prodigy’s return,  we have once again installed the triple resonance TBI – 1H,13C,BB-Z gradient probe and the NEO500 is system’s […]

UPDATE : NEO500 – DELAY IN DEPLOYING PRODIGY CRYOPROBE

All Although all the needed components have arrived, we are still having issues in achieving the needed vacuum in the system (without which, the cryoprobe cannot function).  The issue is being investigated.  At the extreme, by tomorrow, the system will revert to the TBI room temperature probe and will be opened for routine use, while […]

UPDATE – NEO500 : SHORT DELAY IN DEPLOYING CRYOPROBE

Dear Users We are waiting for a missing part that ought to have shipped from the manufacturer along with the repaired probe.  It will be a few days before we are ready to install, test and release the Prodigy cryoprobe for regular use. To effectively use the time in the interim, we have put the […]

ALERT ! NEO500 – PRODIGY PROBE IS BACK FROM REPAIRS

Hello All This is just a preliminary announcement that the beloved Prodigy Probehead, after careful repair and overhaul (at substantial cost)  has been sent back to us by the manufacturer. For a day or two, we will be busy installing the probe back in the magnet, do needed tests for performance, and make sure that […]

UPDATE – AV700 – SHIMS ARE STILL SETTLING DOWN

Dear Users You might have noticed that Topshim is taking an abnormally long time to converge.  This has nothing to do with the Topshim program, but it is caused by the  magnet’s cryogenic shims still drifting towards their ultimate equilibrium.   Newly charged superconducting magnets will take a while to reach a rock steady state, and […]
