ALERT ! AV300 : X – CHANNEL MALFUNCTION
The X-channel i.e. 13C and 31P, etc. is not functional. We have identified the most probable cause to be a faulty circuit board but it’s fix may take some time. Most probably a replacement unit will need to be obtained and that might take a few days. Since the 1H is the predominantly used nucleus […]

ALERT ! AV500 – SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
One of the RF channels is down. The consequence of this is as follows : 2H NMR will not be functional now. Topshim 1D on all deuterated solvents will not work. This implies that you have to touch up the shims by hand before you proced. Steps taken : We will try to revive the […]

UPDATE ! DRX499 – CURRENT STATUS
Since there is still quite a few loose ends to tie up before the merged 500 MHz console is declared open, the existing DRX499 is back in operation as before. After this note, I will proceed directly to introduce the merged console to you, once it is confirmed to be functional in every respect. Thank […]

PLEASE READ ! DRX499 – IN REINCARNATED FORM
Many of you might have noticed an anteroom on the right, when you enter the NMR lab Room : 37 (it has a room number : 33, Bagley Hall). The more inquisitive among you might also have seen an NMR instrument in that space. This instrument originally belongs to Prof. Gabriele Varani of our department […]

ALERT ! AV700 – UPDATE – PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT
Dear Users I know you all have been patiently waiting to hear some good news about the 700 NMR getting online again and here is the good news. As I write this, I will be able to release the instrument for regular use not later than 1 pm today. Probehead: Second, the probe that will […]

AV500 : WORKING NORMALLY
Few of the users have noticed a spike ridden baseline in the past several days, mostly in 1H spectra, apparently. Evidently this is a sporadic issue since not all of them have reported this. As I speak, the spectrometer is giving clean 1H spectrum, as shown below : Multiple causes can account for the […]

ALERT ! AV700 – DOWN DUE TO HARDWARE FAILURE
We have a failing amplifier on this instrument (talk about coincidences – or more like resonance !) that makes it unusable currently. Normally we hope to fix this kind of issue in house and we will attempt to do so in this case also. I will post an update at least by tomorrow that should […]

UPDATE ! DRX499 – SYSTEM IS BACK IN ACTION
The X-channel is looking pretty good after we replaced the faulty part with a back up amplifier unit. Just to give a glimpse, here is the result of 8 scans of 13C recorded on the solvent of lineshape standard. Things look pretty good at this point. PLEASE NOTE : With the new amplifier in place, […]

ALERT ! DRX499 : SYSTEM DOWN DUE TO AMPLIFIER FAILURE
The X-channel amplifier is compromised and we are looking into alternatives. We will try to provide at least a workaround to revive the system immediately. The reservation calendar will be blocked for further booking until the system is nominally operational. Look for updates from this space later. NMR Facility Manager 8/15/2018
