Hello NMR Users (and prospective Users !) of the Facility Though we all have been forced to slow down the usual flurry of activity and things might appear to be in a state of suspended animation, THE NMR FACILITY IS ALIVE AND WELL AND ALL THE EXISTING PROTOCOLS AND POLICIES OF USAGE ARE STILL IN […]

UPDATE ! AV500 – BACK IN ACTION !

Pneumatic system is working properly now i.e. both the Sample Lift and Sample Spin functions are behaving as expected.  But, from the looks of it, I won’t be surprised if the problem recurs again.  Of course, we shall keep a hawkish eye on the developments and swoop down to fix it asap, when that happens […]

ALERT ! AV500 – SYSTEM DOWN…PNEUMATICS PROBLEM

ALERT ! AV301 NOT USABLE UNTIL TOMORROW…PLEASE READ

User has accidentally dropped a sample tube without the spinner turbine into the magnet. This means that the probehead has to be removed to remedy the situation, which will not happen until tomorrow morning. Until this is taken care of, the instrument is not usable.  The reservation calendar should reflect this and we will update […]

PLEASE NOTE ! NMR LAB DOOR CARD READER IS MALFUNCTIONING

I have left a wooden wedge to prop the door open as a temporary measure, since most of you may not have a physical key to open the door.  Please leave the wedge as it is, until we fix the door problem. Thank you NMR Facility Manager 2/12/2020

ALERT ! AV301 : IMMINENT PROBE CHANGE

The automatic tuning/matching part seems to be malfunctioning for the X-channel on this probe.  We are planning to pull the probe out tomorrow afternoon i.e. Friday the 7th and see if its a quick fix. If this is not the case, then be prepared to say hello to the old fashion Broadband probe, that needs […]

NOTE ! : DRX499 – (HOPEFULLY) USEFUL EMBELLISHMENT

Hello after a long break and Happy Wednesday and Happy New Year 2020 ! DRX499 Since we all still have to tune/match the TXO-19F,13C {1H} NMR probehead by hand by crouching under the magnet, we are throwing some light on the process.  We have provided a corded LED lamp to light up the probehead space under […]

UPDATE ! AV300 : FROZEN TOPSPIN SCREEN REMEDIED

The cause of the frozen screen upon login is this : When there is no dataset that is already open in the spectrum display area (blue tile), we usually drag and drop an existing dataset into it. For some reason that has to do with the way the Display system and Topspin interact,  this causes […]
