ALERT – AV500 : BASELINE NOISE DETECTED
Several users have seen spikes in the baseline of 1H NMR spectra. Unless sample concentration is very low, the relative intensities of solute peaks are large enough to identify compared to these spikes. So, as of today, users can continue the runs for which they have already booked time. The instrument will be taken down […]

UPDATE ! AV300 – THE ATMA PROBE IS BACK !
You can now : Type atma or use the Auto Wobb button to tune and match the probehead. Simply type Topshim to automatically shim the sample Please keep us posted if anything worth mentioning turns up. Thank you for your patience while we working on the fix. NMR Facility Manager 5/12/17

AV300 : ATMA PROBE NOT READY YET….
We still need to fine tune the hardware in ATMA probehead before it is brought to its original spec. Therefore, currently, the probe still remains as the BBO. You need to tune/match MANUALLY using WOBB command. You also need to SHIM MANUALLY. I will post a new message, when ATMA Probe is ready for normal […]

UPDATE – AV300 : ATMA PROBE BEING TESTED
After servicing the ATMA probe head in-house, the unit will be tested in the spectrometer, with the hope that everything turns out well. In that case, the ATMA probe will be back in service sometime today. Please look for an updated post on this. NMR Facility Manager 5/11/2017

UPDATE ON AV700 : EXTENSIVE PROBE ISSUES
We had learnt that the contamination from the dryer/heat exchange system has affected the back up probehead i.e. BBO probehead also. It is imperative that we identify and fix both the source of such contamination and clean up both the probeheads to their operating specifications. We are pursuing these twin goals with lot of energy, […]

ALERT ! AV700 – DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
We have found that the extreme chiller system is compromised seriously and it has also contaminated the probehead, making it unsuitable for immediate use. Until the chiller system is fixed, we cannot use any other probehead lest that also becomes damaged. I will post a comprehensive update on this once we understand the extent of […]

UPDATE ! AV300 : INSTRUMENT RELEASED FOR USE
Broken hardware replaced. The default shim set looks quite good. Nevertheless, please recall my previous entreaty : With this manual operation probe, if you need outstanding lineshape, you need to invest the time and effort and shim at least the low order shims by hand. NMR Facility Manager 5/3/17

ALERT ! AV300 : PROBE PART DAMAGE – SYSTEM DOWN
The insert glass is broken and the system is unusable. We are working on fixing it. Will post an update once we replace the broken part. Normally, if a broken glassware is replaced, the probe will need substantial shim up. To cope with constant demand on the instrument, I might leave the probe with old […]

DRX499 – UPDATE : LOCK SYSTEM NORMAL
As far as the tests could show, the lock system is behaving as expected. We shall keep a close watch, nevertheless. It is possible that the warmer than usual room temperature in the lab could have led to overheating of one of the circuit boards in the lock system leading to the sporadic instability reported. […]

UPDATE – DRX499 : LOCK SYSTEM UNDER OBSERVATION
Some of the users complained that they could not lock properly on DRX499. I will be testing the behavior today and post an update. Unless the fix is a simple/routine one, not much will happen today other than the observation. Depending the severity of the issue, we might interrupt the schedule next week to address […]
