ALERT ! NEO500 – SYSTEM DOWN DUE TO ATMA ISSUES

Dear NMR patrons When an experiment starts, the ATMA is an important automated step as we all know. The probe’s ATMA is getting stuck leading to a long delay for processing a single sample.  The  automation software has a timeout mechanism so that it doesn’t stop at a single sample. So, the queued samples overnight […]

UPDATE : ALL GOOD WITH 300 CONSOLES

Dear Users There was a disruption in the high pressure air due to broken tubing, that led to the sample handling problems reported today morning.  The problem has been fixed and the systems are back to normal. NMR Facility Manager 8/17/2023

ALERT ! GG500 – iPROBE NOT READY YET

Dear Users Fresh from the expensive repair,  the iProbe is not delivering what it promised.  Although you might see Topshim seem to complete it’s job,  digging deeper, it is clear that the shimming is not at an acceptable level. Since we have a narrow window of warranty for such repairs,  it is imperative that  we […]

ALERT ! GG500 – iPROBE IS BACK – PROBE CHANGE TODAY

Dear Users We usually provide a day or so, when a probe swap is planned in a given instrument. This is usually the practice when the swap is done for benign reasons. An example will be  moving from BB (BroadBand) capability to a specialized capability such as only-19F observation. This usually gives the BB users […]

UPDATE ! GG500 – ALL GOOD

Dear Users Topshim as well as Gradient assisted experiments are running correctly now. Tip:  For fully dueterated lock solvents, you MUST touch up the X and Y shims by hand to get the best resolution !   NMR Facility Manager 6/28/23

ALERT ! GG500 – GRADIENT MALFUNCTION

Dear Users We are aware of the issue with gradients that leads to a failure of Topshim (and gradient assisted experiments as well).  We will take a look at the possible causes and provide an update as soon as we can. Stay tuned NMR Facility Manager 6/28/2023

UPDATE ! NEO500 – SYSTEM UP – USER ERROR CAUSED INTERRUPTION

Dear Users I will once again draw your attention to the following post that was broadcast about a month ago.  This pertains to the proper way a sample is handled with NEO500 and the SampleCase automated sample changer. Click here for that post.   To jog your memory, here is the accompanying picture Over the […]

UPDATE – NEO500 : AUTOMATION QUEUE STARTED AGAIN

Dear Users Nothing more to add on the technical side of the instrument.  But I do have something to add as to the handling of sample and the system.  There is a ‘method to the madness’ and a ‘rationale behind a pesky insistence’, when me or Adrienne shout from the rooftop.   (As I was writing […]

NEO500 – CALL TO ACTION – PLEASE CLEANUP AFTER YOURSELF !

Dear NEO500 Users This is a renewed call made a few weeks back about the piling up of unused/completed NMR sample tubes, that is overwhelming the system.  See picture below :   Since we don’t have a capacity larger than 24 sample tubes,  we really need you to be on top of your cleanup act, […]

ALERT ! GG500 – POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO iPROBE – TXO PROBE IS IN ITS PLACE NOW

Hello All Following an unfortunate incident of a user dropping the sample tube into the magnet bore without a spinner,  it turned out that the sample tube broke inside the new iProbe probehead.  Being a mint condition probe, which also belongs to the latest generation, it will need careful handling in assessing the extent of […]
