ATTENTION ! AV301 UPDATE : GRADIENTS AND TOPSHIM OPERATIONAL

The new gradient capability is fully functional.   Combined with the ATMA feature of the porbehead,  users can do everything from the computer desktop, including shimming using TOPSHIM.  PROBE TUNING :   After inserting sample and setting up the correct dataset, just enter atma on the command line.  Wait for the auto tuning/matching to complete. SHIMMING :    Topshim […]

UPDATE ! AV301 – SYSTEM IS READY FOR REGULAR USE – GRADIENT UPGRADE INCOMPLETE

I apologize for this unexpected delay in implementing gradient upgrade but we hope the wait will be worth it, once users can let the computer do all the shimming.   I am glad to report that the major part of this hardware and software upgrade is done and I hope that by Thursday, the 12th, […]

AV300: 1H Tune Issue

The av300 is currently down due to an issue with the probe that occurs when users use fingers to tune or use the tune tool at an angle on the 1H tune rod. We are currently working to fix the probe and will notify users when the instrument is available again.

NOTE ON AV301 – PABBI PROBEHEAD AND SHIM

As already mentioned, the new gradient upgrade is designed to function with only the ATMA-BBI probe, as currently there are no other 300 MHz probes that feature gradient capability.  So, the probehead has been changed to PABBI and the probe ID card on the console lists the shim file to load and use along with the […]

AV301 – UPDATE : GRADIENT UPGRADE

The hardware installation is complete but there are few more configuration steps that involves the software.   I hope that this can be completed by tomorrow, unless some issue crops up in the meanwhile.  I will keep you posted. NMR Facility Manager 11/3/15

ATTENTION – AV301 USERS ! – HARDWARE UPGRADE – GRADIENT CAPABILITY IS COMING TO AV301

We are excited to announce that the AV301 instrument will get new hardware upgrade that will make it the third instrument in Bagley 37 to perform gradient assisted spectroscopy. In combination with the ATMA-BBI probe,  this will become a fully automated spectrometer for routine spectroscopy.  Other than injecting the sample, every other operation can be done from […]

UPDATE – DRX499 – INSTRUMENT RELEASED FOR USE WITH TXO PROBE

The BBO probe has been found to have multiple hardware issues which are being addressed.  To get to back to productive runs,  we have placed the earlier TXO – 19F,13C {1H} – Z gradient probe for regular use.  I would like to point out that the non-spinning shims are not upto the best spec but […]

ALERT ! – DRX499 – PROBE WOBB MALFUNCTION – X CHANNEL

Tuning for all X-band nuclei i.e. 13C, 31P, 11B, etc. is not possible at this time, though the 1H channel is functioning fine.  We are looking into this and post an update as we make progress.

UPDATE – AV500 IS OK !

Sample transport is working normally.  As a related remark, if you are using special NMR tubes, that have a shifted center of mass, such as high pressure enclosure tubes or J-Young tubes,  take extra care in seating the sample in depth gauge before inserting it in the magnet.  If you see the missing indicator,  you can use […]
