UPDATE ! AV500 – SYSTEM BACK TO NORMAL OPERATIONS

There are two updates to be highlighted here : AV500 is back to a three channel configuration after an (expensive) replacement of a failed circuit board.  You can therefore plan {1H, X, Y} type experiments.  The TBI-1H {13C,X} – Z gradient probe has been placed back in the magnet.   This probe has a dedicated 13C […]

UPDATE ! AV500 – INTERIM SOLUTION IN PLACE

While we are waiting for replacement of the compromised circuit board,  we have patched this unit together to function as a two-channel instrument.  The BBI-Z gradient probe is paired with this so that you can pulse two nuclei at a time i.e.  13C with 1H decoupling OR 31P with 1H decoupling, as examples. In a […]

UPDATE : AV500 – SYSTEM WILL BE DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The RF related issue is not fully resolved yet.  As I mentioned before,  there is a potential probehead change that might be called for.   There is no clear correlation between the electronics problem mentioned above and the probehead’s condition at this point. This probe has been giving a rather noisy ‘wobb’ signal as many of […]

UPDATE – 2 : AV300 IS BACK ON TRACK !

The AV500 is the only system that is yet to be revived.  But, I would like to alert you to the fact that, the revival of this instrument might take longer.  In fact, it is possible that it is not ready by today. More updates will be coming as the situation evolves. Thank you, as […]

UPDATE ! – AV300 AND DRX499 ARE UP; OTHER SYSTEMS STILL DOWN

AV301 :  A computer related glitch is the main cause behind the failure and our IT Tech is working on this. AV500 : A malfunctioning circuit board is the obstacle to reviving the system fully.   It is possible that the probehead is having issues too. Stay tuned for more updates. ALERT ! SPORADIC ISSUES WITH NMR SYSTEMS – Thunder and Lightning !

The excitement over the weekend brought by the Weather gods, did leave a bit of an imprint on the NMR systems.  Though you may not see anything amiss immediately,  some of them may not work as expected. As I speak, I am making sure the systems get back to normal, one by one. I will […]

ALERT ! AV700 – SOLUTIONS TO SOLIDS SWITCH SOON

All 700 NMR users  please take note that the system will move to solid state NMR mode roughly in a week’s time from today.   Our current estimate is that the instrument will remain in solids mode for about 2 months. We shall assess the situation towards the end of that window and see if the […]

UPDATE ! AV300 : AUTOMATION SCRIPTS…

If any of you have been trying to use the automation scripts on AV300,  you might have encountered repeated failures, with some cryptic message that ends in “core dumped”. This obscure problem was related to a software bug and that has been squashed now. Commands of the type ‘multizg’, ‘iexpno’, ‘multicmd’  are a few examples […]

UPDATE : AV700 – VT CALIBRATION COMPLETE

With the backup chiller in place, the VT calibration for the high temperature range is complete.  Now, you can simply request the temperature you need to see at the sample. The system will automatically adjust the temperature measured at the sensor to achieve this. I show below an example to demonstrate the accuracy achieved.  The […]
