UPDATE – AV301 : Broken probe parts – system still down

Fragile Quartz insert tube inside the probe is found to be broken and that is the cause of the lineshape anomalies users have noticed recently.   We will replace the broken part as soon as feasible, shim up the probe again and release it for use.  Currently I don’t have an estimate but I will provide […]

UPDATE : AV301 – Backup probe is installed and ready

Currently, we don’t have an estimate as to when the original ATMA probe will be fixed and ready but I suspect it will be at least a week.  Updates will follow at relevant points. NMR Facility Manager 7/12/17

UPDATE : AV301 – ALTERNATE PROBE IS BEING READIED

As we announced a week earlier, the ATMA probe is pulled out for servicing the dysfunctional X-channel.  The backup BBI probe is being shimmed up and getting ready and we hope that it will be available by the end of the day. Two important points :   This legacy probe DOES NOT HAVE ATMA ! […]

ALERT ! AV301 – PHASE 2 : MIGRATING TO UDRIVE COMPLETE

All existing users will now notice that their Topspin file tree shows the following structure: /home/<UWNetid>/udrive/av301/  as the main data tree in the File Browser. Expanding this will show only one branch : /home/<UWNetid>/udrive/av301/<UWNetid>/nmr Underneath this, you will find all your old files residing. So, remember :  This is your data root directory :  /home/<UWNetid>/udrive/av301 […]

ALERT ! AV301 – 31P TUNE/MATCH ISSUE

We are looking into the problem of ATMA and ATMM failing for the 31P selection.  Initial tests show that the symptom might spread to the 13C channel with some lock solvents.  The probe needs to be pulled out for further repairs. Once a back up plan is in place, we will announce the probe swap […]

UPDATE ! AV300 – ATMA AND ATMM STABLE

Quick recap :  Many users found that 1H tuning/matching using ATMA or ATMM command did not behave as expected (either a flat wobble curve or no response to turning the tuning/matching capacitors in ATMM). Remedial measures are applied now. I expect the tuning/matching to behave properly for most of the commonly used lock solvents.  Please […]

ALERT : AV500 – TOPSHIM NOT FUNCTIONAL

Several of you have noticed that Topshim was failing.   Currently,  when you run Topshim, the software will not complain but the shims don’t change to give you a better lineshape or resolution. I have taken a preliminary look and will continue troubleshooting to run the problem to ground.  As of now, you have to touch […]
